Frida Kahlo was a Mexican painter who lived from 1907-1954 who is well-known for her self-portraits. She is also known for her paintings of Mexican artifacts and nature. Her work is considered surrealist. Surrealism is a movement in art and literature which looks to release the creative potential of the unconscious mind.
