Language Arts: This week, students are turning in their notes for the three Space Exploration articles, which are due Wednesday, October 16. Also, Reading Log #2 is due Friday, October 18 (with a parent signature). Two paragraphs with quotes and page numbers must be submitted on Canvas. Finally, we are working on our story revisions this week, so if you have a chance to look over your child’s story, please do! 🙂 Students should have an editing and revising packet in their binders. Below is what the front page of the checklist looks like.

Social Studies: This week, students are turning in their Ancient Egypt packets on Geography and Daily Life, due Monday, October 14 (bright yellow packet). We are also starting our Bernstein unit, which will further discuss cultures and go deeper into how the Nile shaped Egyptian life. We will discuss cultures as systems, with a discussion on Friday, October 18 (students turn in discussion sheet for participation).

As part of our Bernstein unit, we will examine the art of Yulia Brodskaya, a quilling artist who creates art highlighting different cultures. We will also conduct our own quilling experiments in class! 🙂
